So since this is a current discussion topic: Are pastel goths, goths after all. Or not?

I think some are, and some are just people who like the cutesy kawaii look and wanted to jump on the new spooky cute trend.

Yeah I think some are and some aren't. There are probably people wearing the stuff without even listening to gothic music or knowing about the origions of the goth scene and stuff. And then there are goths who just enjoy wearing pastels, I guess.

It looks like a mix up of definitions to me. Goth =! Spooky and 'spooky pastels' seems closer to the mark to me. Just another example of the goth definition being wide enough to be misapplied.
About the people, I won't comment because I didn't bring my big ol' tarring brush.

I think it's OK. It's cute.. but sometimes it's a bit.. "erm, what's even the point anymore?"
There's a fine line here. Somewhere.
I don't mind some of the things they wear but... I think it's just a Tumblr fad that will die out soon. It's too easy for the word "Goth" to be slapped on things. Especially on Tumblr - where most of the Pastel Goth shit goes down (and etsy and the fucking studs/inverted crosses) - type 'Goth' into the search bar, most of the things that pop up aren't even Goth at all. Just chicks who think looking like Taylor Momsen makes them look "Gothic".. dude. no.
Sorry for the rant. But Pastel Goth, for me, is only bearable for a short amount of time.
